Michelle Ogundehin
Michelle Ogundehin has contributed to publications all over the world and is internationally renown as an authority on interiors, style and design.
She was appointed Editor-in-Chief of ELLE Decoration in May 2004, consolidating a relationship with the magazine that started in 1997. In September 2007 she launched ELLE Decoration Collections, an annual guide to the world’s best new designs. She was made a Trustee of London’s V&A Museum in 2008.
Trained as an architect, she began her career on the launch of Tate Art Magazine. It was a short hop across the Wordsearch publishing house to Blueprint Magazine (then edited by Deyan Sudjic, currently director of London's Design Museum) where she rose to the position of Senior Editor in less than three years. Her energy and enthusiasm led to her being headhunted by style guru Ilse Crawford to join the ELLE Decoration team. Two years later she set up shop on her own, maintaining her connection to ELLE Decoration as its Editor-at-Large.
In this freelance period, she also worked as Interiors Editor for Esquire magazine (September 1997 to April 1999). And in April 2000 was appointed Interiors Editor of Nova Magazine, a position held until the magazine’s untimely demise a year later. Additionally she regularly produced both written and styled features for the Observer Magazine and contributed articles to numerous other publications including: Arena; Design Week; ELLE; The Evening Standard; The Face; Frank; The Guardian, Hoch Parterre (Zurich), iD; The Independent; Interiors (New York); The International Design Magazine (New York); Numero (Paris); Scene; Sunday Times Style and Tate Magazine.
Michelle was born in Manchester; grew up in London; studied Architecture at London’s celebrated Bartlett School and worked in architectural offices in both London and New York, where she lived for two years. She shuttled between Los Angeles and London for another couple, returning full-time to the UK in 2000, setting up the MO:Studio design consultancy two years later. She now lives between London and Brighton.
